In foundries of coloured metallurgy, steel, bronze and aluminium, are installed cranes which we can divide into following groups:

- cranes for filling the melting furnaces are by default equipped with electromagnetic or hydraulic grippers, and now days they are equipped with scales too,
- cranes for moving the metallurgic mixture are special cranes and they have to be equipped with additional security devices,
- cranes for preparing the caldrons, operating with final products are standard cranes.

Special areas are operations in which is used equipment for pouring the hot steel.
Cranes in this case are used for maintenance of machines and replacement of tools.

In all counted up cases cranes operate in bad working conditions (high temperatures and dust)
